This blog started off as a simple way to dabble in the fun-to-me online beauty, fashion, fitness and lifestyle communities. I have to admit, I had no idea what I wanted to achieve or even IF I wanted to achieve anything. I was looking for a creative outlet for something I myself enjoyed being a part of from the outside.

You can take a look at some bloggers/personalities and their followings are MASSIVE. I’m talking more followers than some countries have populations (ok, small countries but still). How do they not let it go to their heads? How do I not get discouraged that my followings are NO WHERE NEAR that large? You just have to push on. What was a hobby, becomes a passion. What is a passion, is always rewarding to one’s soul.

No matter the size or scope of the industry, there is always room for you. Whether you want to be on the inside as a creator, or looking in and observing, loving the feel and vibrancy that these communities bring… there is room for you. Enjoy your hobbies, passions, careers! Just stay true to yourself, that’s what’s important to me anyway. I’ve been asked to collaborate and review items that I didn’t believe in. I always say no. If I said yes, then of course I could make money off of it, but in turn I’d be selling a piece of myself. Of course I could grow my following faster, but then it would be tainted by that lack of integrity. (I’m NOT bashing anyone who does these things, you go boo boo!! I just couldn’t do it personally.)

With all of that in mind, I wanted to write down what I do, how I do it, and the values I try to keep with me every step of the way.

Such a dramaaatic topic honestly. But newsflash… I use them, everyone uses them, and they don’t hurt readers in any way! Let me say this again: you as a customer do not pay more because of an affiliate link. Content creators use these to get a small (we’re talking minuscule) percentage of the sale from the retailer for purchases through these links. We use these commissions to keep our platforms running and keep content relevant for you (I use any earnings to fund things like: hosting fees, site design, items for review purchased from my own pocket, giveaways to you guys, etc.). Are these things that I’d link with or without the affiliate option? Heck yes! Because I create content I care about all while trying to make my posts as easy to navigate as possible. I’ve done the work to find the item for you. Half of the time I forget to even use a click-through affiliate service, because I’m more excited about the content! I try to be as transparent as possible regarding affiliate links, and if you’re uncomfortable using them, by all means please don’t. PLEASE only ever do what makes you feel comfortable and happy! You can find any product yourself too, I only hope to help make my work as easy as possible for you to enjoy.

When sponsored content (aka paid content) is done with integrity, it works. When brands pick content creators that make sense with the values of that brand, rather than just to pick a creator for their millions of followers, they are working together in the true atmosphere of collaboration. All parties are interested and vested in the results and readers/viewers can tell! My approach to sponsored content is always the same, I ask myself if I would willingly tell my family or friends about this product with no hesitation. No matter the item. If so, then this is a brand and item I want to work with. If not, then no way, I can’t in good conscience present this to anyone.

I try to always be myself. Sometimes yes, of course it’s the “happy shiny version” of myself, but I also share with you guys my frustrations and fears. I am always the same goofball online as I am in person and I always strive to be a human Care Bear. That is not necessarily the case with every content creator out there! I will always strive to stand for what I believe in and always put other’s feelings first. I absolutely hate online bullying and negativity, there is no place for that in any aspect of my life. BEGONE!

Never going to happen on here. Ever. No. Nada. You guys, that’s putting it mildly, I’m not a fan of content creators who strive to boost their traffic with clickbait. If you’re unfamiliar with the term clickbait, it’s described as: “content whose main purpose is to attract attention and encourage visitors to click on a link to a particular web page”. The definition seems harmless, but the reality of it… ughhhhh I despise such content. Moving on!

You guys… I’m a goofball. I was a bit of an oddball throughout school and still am today. I was never the “popular girl” and never really had aspirations to be her. I just wanted to enjoy being a part of a community and do activities that interested me. I see now that this quirky childhood version of me, prepared me for an adulthood that needed a multifaceted personality. I am capable of adapting to a multitude of situations and even enjoy being thrown into the varying worlds that I seem to be a part of today. No matter what, I always want to do so with a smile on my face and I want to be myself. I started my blog, YouTube and social media producing content that I wanted to read and see. It might not be relatable to everyone but I’m not here for that. I want to enjoy making my content first and foremost, because if I don’t, to me, this isn’t genuine and what’s the point of me even being here. But I also want you all to enjoy it as well! I always ask for feedback and I will always try to incorporate it.

No. It’s not happening. Unless it’s a photo delivered from a photographer that did post-production edits, or unless I’m brightening a photo (or hiding a pimple, c’monnnn I’m human) there won’t be any photoshop on my pictures or videos. If I go missing… how would you know what I looked like?! ;) I’m honestly not even that talented at it… it’d be a bad scenario for all, ha.

One last thought to anyone out there thinking of starting a blog, YouTube, social media page, etc… the best part is that YOU make your own rules. I firmly believe that creativity which is not harmful to others only makes the world a more beautiful place. I want to inspire and not intimidate. I hope that those of you wanting to start out feel the same and that you don’t lose yourself along the way.
